Mock Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
I really liked this mock tuna recipe. I made some chages to reflect what my normal tuna salad has in it, such as celery and chopped green olives. Everyone has an idea of what tuna salad should taste like, so my advice is to incorperate your own personal tuna salad ingredients into this recipe. Then it will taste more like the "real" thing to you. I would have never thought of using garbanzo beans to replace tuna, but it is a healthy alternative, (no mercury), less expensive, and it works!! Thanks for a great recipe!

Slow Cooker Tender and Yummy Round Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
This "easy" meal is so unhealthy I wouldn't serve it to anyone. It can be cleaned up and become edible with a few adjustments. First of all brown the meat well. Don't add any extra salts or flavors. Add two or three cloves of garlic, a tsp. of chopped ginger (to help in the digestion of the meat.) Two medium onions roughly chopped and one celery stalk thinly sliced. These vegies should be lightly sauteed prior to adding to meat. Add two tins of Swanson's low sodium broth or other low saodium broth product When everything is in the slow cooker add carrots and one small bottle of Merlot and let it cook until tender. Saute some mushrooms and add to pot. If doing potatoes add at this time and finish cooking. This is very good with wide noodles with a bit of dill added. This becomes a very healthy and flavorfull meal.

Turkey Pasta Primavera

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
What a great, quick, healthy recipe! I had to figure out a way to use up the rest of my Thanksgiving Turkey, and found this little gem! I had a bag of frozen veggies from Trader Joes' and Wheat Spaghetti. The only thing I changed was that I used fresh chopped garlic and sea salt. Absolutely yummy! My picky 7 yr old even loved it! Thanks!

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
I did not like this recipe at all. I aged 30 years just at the taste of the vinegar in it. Very strong. If you must make this recipe use a bit less vinegar. I won't attempt this again though. The other flavors weren't anything special.

Apple Hermits

THIS RECIPE IS EXCELLENT. I MADE BARS INSTEAD OF COOKIES AND THEY WENT QUICKLY. MY CHILDREN AND I ARE ALLERGIC TO MIXED NUTS AND PEANUTS SO I JUST INCREASED THE RAISINS AND APPLES A BIT. THEY WERE EASY TO MAKE TOO, WHICH IS ALWAYS A BONUS. THANKS FOR THE RECIPE!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
FOR ALL THE BAKING I DO, I'VE NEVER MADE OATMEAL COOKIES UNTIL THIS YEAR. MY CHILDREN DON'T EAT RAISINS SO THAT'S PROBABLY WHY...ANYWAY, I'VE MADE FIVE OR SIX DIFFERENT OATMEAL COOKIE RECIPES BEFORE THIS AND I WASN'T CRAZY ABOUT ANY OF THEM UNTIL NOW. I FOLLOWED THE RECIPE EXACTLY EXCEPT (I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M ACTUALLY ABOUT TO ADD A CHANGE TO THIS RECIPE...IT'S MY PET PEEVE AND HERE I AM DOING IT) I ADDED NUTMEG TO THE RECIPE. IT WAS SO UNNECESSARY BECAUSE THESE COOKIES ARE DELICIOUS AND NEED ABSOLUTELY NO HELP. I'VE NOW MADE THESE AT LEAST 10 TIMES AND I ALWAYS GET TONS OF COMPLIMENTS. YOU KNOW YOU HAVE A GOOD THING GOING WHEN PEOPLE ASK FOR THE RECIPE. IT'S LIKE PEOPLE ASKING YOU WHAT YOU WEAR FOR COLOGNE/PERFUME BECAUSE YOU SMELL GOOD. ANYWAY, THAT'S HOW I ALWAYS THINK OF IT. IF PEOPLE DON'T CARE FOR THEM, THEY'RE NOT GOING TO GO TO THE TROUBLE OF ASKING YOU FOR THE RECIPE AND START WRITING IT DOWN. IT'S EASY ENOUGH JUST TO EAT THEM, SAY NOTHING AT ALL OR THAT THEY'RE GOOD, AND MOVE ON. AWESOME COOKIES!

Quick Crescent Taco Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
Good, quick and easy, but just a little dry. I think the amount of sour cream should probably be doubled. I served it with shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes and hubby had seconds. Thanks for the recipe!

Orange Soya Sauce Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
THE CHICKEN WAS FLAWLESS, VERY MOIST. I'M ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR NEW THINGS TO DO WITH CHCKEN BREASTS, CONSIDERING IT'S A STAPLE AS FAR AS DINNERS. I WAS REALLY PLEASED WITH HOW TASTY THIS WAS, NOT TO MENTION HOW EASY. I MARINATED THIS IN THE MORNING AND JUST THREW SOME SIDES TOGETHER. DINNER WAS ACTUALLY ON THE TABLE BY 6:00.

Very tasty. The only thing I didn't do was the lettuce. Made it in the morning and let it sit in the fridge so the flavors could blend.
