Cranberry Stuffed Turkey Breasts

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
I made this today for thanks giving. The cranberries were soft and tart and delicious. Next time I will put more in there. I didn't have string so I used unflavored unwaxed dental floss. That worked fine. My turkey was definitely cooked all the way through, but it never registered a temperature of 170. I think this is because it was hard to measure just the turkey and not the stuffing. I let it cook for ten extra minutes just to be sure, but an hour would have been perfectly fine. Finally, for decorating, I didn't bother with the lettuce leaves. I used cranberries, pecan halves, and some fresh herbs, and it was beautiful.

Swiss Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
I messed this one up. I didn't notice that the green beans needed to be thawed and drained! Mine came out really watery. I would make this one again though the right way. I was really disappointed since I made it for Thanksgiving dinner. I will re-review next time when I get it right.

Potato Leek Soup III

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
This is a 3 star recipe the day of, but a 5 star recipe the day after. It definitely needs time for the flavors to meld and become more complex.

Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
Very easy and economical. I added fresh garlic & a jalapeno minced while cooking beef. I added about 2 tbls. of taco seasoning on top of meat before I spread the cheese. Added worcheshire sauce to bisquick mixture. Served it with a can of refried beans. Good meal......

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
Great recipe. I skipped the soy sauce (salt!) because the soup has a ton. I added a bay leaf; put slivers of fresh garlic poked in all over the roast, then chopped, fresh mushrooms. I started on high, but lowered it to low after two hrs. Thickened gravy with corn starch & water last five mins. It was mouthwatering. Served mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, and steamed, fresh broccoli. This will be made again! P.S. I put in a 2 lb. roast, I should have cooked 3 lbs. Almost no leftovers!

Crabby Cream Cheese Wontons

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
Awesome recipe, much better than my favorite Chinese restaurant! And, the filling is a great start to a wonderful crab dip! My only issue was finding the wonton wrappers at my store, they are in the produce section near the organic and pre-chopped veggies for those of you with the same problem!

The Best Chicken Soup Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
I have never made homemade chicken soup. I've always enjoyed others. It was quite chilly today so I thought I'd give it a try. It was fabulous!!! I did add a bit of salt to it though and simmered it for about 4 hours. Didn't get a whole lot of meat off of the whole chicken but it was sufficient. Served the soup with a a salad and crescent rolls. The bow tie pasta was adorable. My husband thought it was a unique touch! We will definitely add this soup to our favorites list!

This was awesome. It took a little more work than the recipe lets on but it was worth it.

Wisconsin Bratwurst

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
This was not great. I browned the onions & brats. I added a lot of carroway seed + pepper + a jar of drained sauerkraut. The brats broke, so I couldn't/wouldn't grill them. I think it would be better with a kielbasa or linguesa.

Chorizo and Lentil Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Geez, I did not like this at all...I made huge additions: carrots, diced onions, coriander, all spice, lemon juice, nutmeg, small potatoes and a can of beef broth. 3 cups of water could NOT feed 4 people. I added 5 + the broth! I must say after ALL these additions, I would give it 4***, but it just was good on its own....

Cordon Bleu Chicken Rolls

I really like the chicken, but the sauce is horrible. It just tastes like warmed up cream of chicken soup...wasted a cup of sour cream!

Carol's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
Great recipe. The seasoning adds nice dimension to the salad and the veg/fruit additions really rounded out the flavor and made it something special. I did substitute leeks for green onions, as its what I had on hand.
