Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
the recipe was simple....so i'm not sure why I decided to tweak ingrediants ;) i used all brown sugar in the cookie. and added vanilla, and used butter flavored crisco, it tasted fine, and was chewy, but overall not impressed. my coworkers really liked them. i will follow the directions tonight to see what real snickerdoodles should taste like, as i've never made them before

Green Beans with Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I usually will cook a bit of bacon first, and sautee the pearl onions in the bacon drippings with a Tb of sugar. then add the greenbeans and crumbled bacon. This is very tasty.

Grandma's Pumpkin Tea Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
This is a great recipe for fresh pumpkin, however I think the spices should have been in teaspoons instead of tablespoons. That said, I reduced the spices, added fresh chopped cranberries, chopped walnuts and 1 ripe banana for a thicker texture, and it was delicious! It's not too sweet - perfect for afternoon tea or coffee or an evening snack with some decaf!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
The taste was out of this world! I was really surprised. Yet I was disappointed that there was no warning about the sticky mess it is to make these. There should've been some tips on what to do instead of play in goop. I read more suggestions and I think next time I'll put the mix in the freezer for a few minutes. But please, a little warning next time.

Tart apples were a little too tart for my taste... I prefer sweeter things.

Orange Pumpkin Loaf

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
Everyone loves this! It's better than giving pumpkin pie for dessert, because it has less sugar and calories than pie. The loaf is mostly sweetened with the orange instead of SUGAR! Thank you so much for posting this recipe. I have one cooling on the stove right now!

French Toast Souffle

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
I am giving it 4 stars because it is a very nice basic recipe. However, I have made some changes because I felt it needed "something". After trying it exactly as the recipe suggested, I made it again with a few changes. I used an italian bread (I have tried it with challah too- yummy!) I took frozen berries and sprinkled them with a little sugar (to taste really). I put the berries in a small saucepan and let them reduce into a yummy sauce. I then drizzled that sauce on the souffle after it came out of the oven. You may wish to add fresh berries after you drizzle the sauce. I used this instead of using maple syrup. I served it to a friend who said it was divine.
