Turkey Lo Mein

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
This recipe was great! I threw the ingredients "ground turkey" and "ramen" into the recipe search and couldn't believe a recipe came up...and to top it off, it was de-lish! I made a couple adjustments just based on what I had on hand. 1) Instead of using the veggies suggested, I microwaved and threw in one package of "Steamers" Asian Medley with an Orange sauce. It really added a great flavor, just a hint of orange...it was nice. 2) I also took the suggestion of others and used minced garlic and less of the ramen packaged seasoning. It was still pretty salty, but super yummy too! Even my son ate it...which is really just a miracle! This recipe will stay in the recipe box for later use...often use! :-)

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
It came out a little thinner than my family likes, so next time I'm going to cut out a cup of water to get a chowder-like consistency. I also mashed the potatoes a little after adding the milk. Quite good.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I made this in my Culinary class for bread, and it was so good my teacher made it dessert instead! We put sliced peaches and spiced whipped cream on slices of this, and we just couldn't get enough! I got 2 9x5 loaves, and didn't change the recipie at all.

Spooky Witches Fingers

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
Not only were these tasty cookies but are so appropriate to the holiday. I followed the cookie recipe exactly. I might have made my fingers smaller as I had way more than 60 cookies. Closer to 100, but no complaints! For the nails, I used whole almonds dipped in strawberry jam and inserted them before baking. The almonds had a nice toasted flavor. I will make these again next year and use the same recipe for other cookies. Thanks for sharing!!

Easy Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
We tried this last night. I followed the directions, which were easy enough, and used an uncooked picnic bone-in ham. The meat was tender, but the flavor was too overpowering for our palates. The house smelled like Christmas, but the ham itself had too much of a "floral" after-kick that didn't seem like it belonged in the meat. While this recipe seems to be a favorite with a lot on the site, it just wasn't a set of flavors my family was used to, and that probably put them off. Sorry :(

Pumpkin Chip Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
Preparing to make this recipe I realized I bought pumpkin pie puree instead of plain pumpkin. So I omitted the spices and used all purpose flour. Fearing the mixture would stick to the paper cups, I sprayed them with Pam. The cupcakes came out great. Not too sweet. The icing added all the sweetness needed. I'll be making these again. Thanks for a good recipe.

Chicken Breasts Stuffed with Crabmeat

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2008
Okay...so I had to use what was on-hand cuz we are moving soon and I am trying to clean out the perishables. I didn't have regular cream cheese, I had the Garden Veggie flavor...and I didn't have the fresh spices, so I used dried...and no dill, so I left it out. My hubby had packed the flour, so I used Bisquick...and my son is allergic to eggs, so I used an applesauce/milk mixture. I also used the recommendation of baking so as not to burn it on the stove top. And even though I basically created a new recipe...THIS WAS AWESOME!!! We ate so much we hurt! This is our new favorite chicken recipe...and SOOOOO easy...which is hard to believe when you taste it! Truly delicious!!!

I used crushed almonds instead of walnuts, half the sugar, and I baked them in muffin tins for 30 minutes till deep golden brown on the tops. They were fantastic.
