Country Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
This is a great recipe..I just used potatoes o brian instead of plain hashbrowns and seasoned with cajun seasonings, garlic, and pepper. I prebaked the potatoes for about 10 mins. on 400 then added the other ingredients I also put the corn in with everything and cooked for 35 min on 350. Family loved it

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
I made this for Thanksgiving -- such an impressive addition (everyone thought I had gone all out). But so simple! And my 92 year old grandmother said it was just like the creamed corn her mother used to make -- she asked for the recipe! Just a hint -- you can use half and half in place of the milk and cream since the recipe calls for equal amount of each. Also, watch out for scorching -- I caught mine just in time. Great recipe -- thanks so much for sharing!

Jiffy Jambalaya

I thought this was a great weeknight recipe - one you can throw together quickly but tastes like you spent more time on it. I added 1/2 lb of shrimp and subbed beer for the water.

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
WARNING: Only make these when there is a large group of people you want to feed, otherwise you'll just end up eating them yourself! I love these - sort of like fudge - very rich. I ran out of milk and just used plain old water - added a little more oats and they were fine.

Turned out great for my daughters choc cake. Wasn't heavy and had a great cream cheese flavor. Folowed some of the suggestions in the reviews and they were very helpful. Thanks!

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
great idea and simple! I peronalized it with fresh whip cream, caramel, and toffee. My 4 year old daughter helped the whole way and had a blast making it. Was a hit with all the teenagers and kids at thanksgiving!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I used 3 bags of the M. Cubisons seasoned stuffing, I substituted chopped carrots for the mushrooms (preference), substituted 1 cup of orange juice for broth and omitted the marjoram (after reading other comments) kept everything else the same- slow cooked low for about 3 1/2 hrs then upped it to high for 1 hour. This is a "wet" stuffing- I like "wet" but most of my friends like a more crusty fluffy stuffing. Next time I will use a little less broth, or add the 4th bag of stuffing cubes and fluff the stuffing a little more. I will make this again- easier to use the crock pot for sure!!!

Cranberry Apple Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I tweaked it just a smidge: I added 1/2 c of chopped pecans, 6 oz can of mandarin orange segments (drained), and 3 tbsp of brown sugar. I have never made cranberry sauce from scratch before and was curious about how it would "gel"- all of those little berries popped and question answered! I put everything in a saucepan med flame for 10 min., stirred it up and: Fabulous! This will be my recipe from now on!! It is even better the next day. So this could be a day-before recipe too! Thanks so much for the submission!!!!

Giblet Gravy II

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
I'm not a gravy person but you can't have Thanksgiving turkey without gravy, you'd have a riot on your hands! However, this recipe was quite tasty and super easy. Even my stepmom who hates organ meat liked it. I made stock from the giblets and then pureed the stock and giblets before mixing them into the roux. I didn't find it to be too bland but then again I used tons of garlic in my turkey brine and my stock was well-seasoned.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
This guacamole is delicious! By far the best I've ever had, and it was so easy to make. Took as an appetizer for Thanksgiving and it was a big hit. Followed the recipe exactly minus the cayenne pepper. Wouldn't change a thing. It was perfect!

Texas Pralines

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I make these whenever I am homesick for Austin, Texas. They are very close to Lamme's, a hometown tradition... The recipe is great, all except for one thing...they don't last long enough! We find ourselves fighting over them.
