French Breakfast Puffs

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
These were actually pretty good. A bit denser than I was hoping for. I made these for my bf only to find out that the only spice he had was pumpkin pie spice... Actually turned out really good in place of the nutmeg. Also used butter in place of shortening and 1 T less milk (again, bf didn't have any). There was way too much of the cinnamon/sugar/butter topping. I only used MAYBE half. A lot of waste.

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
eh. It just tasted like green beans with a lot of garlic. Not all that mind blowing. Next time, I think I'll just experiment on my own.

Scotch Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
They were okay. I used half turkey and half sausage to cut down on the grease. My kids LOVED them. I think they have a lot of potential, but unsure as of yet, what to do with it. If only there were a way to keep the yolks a little runny...

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
These are lighter and less taste of molasses than typical, but that makes them even more delectable! Everyone loved them and gobbled them up. 8 min. was just enough to leave them soft. I'm sure they would have been soft for a few days... they just didn't make it that long!

Orange Cranberry Drops

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
A nice change from the traditional cookies. Make sure you don't over melt the butter or over beat the dough. I did both on my first batch and ended up with flat cookies. Also go ahead and add the orange juice instead of water. If you were expecting a lot of cookies, just start by doubling the recipe b/c I found it didn't make that many as is. Happy snacking!

Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
Overall, these were pretty tasty, but WAY too much spice! I cut the whole spice mixture in half and they had a nice burn to them. I think next time I'll put chopped roasted peppers in instead of the spice.... I also doubled the bacon.

Apple Cranberry Stuffed Pork Chops

There really wasn't much to the stuffing... I decided to just add the cranberries to my regular bread/apple stuffing

Original Irish Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
Tasted almost like St. Brendan's and cost WAY less. The only problem my husband and I has was it didn't need the almond. It threw the taste off a bit, but wasn't bad. I just would leave it out next time.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
It was fairly tasty, but not great with my veggie pizza. I made a half batch with whole wheat flour and 1/4 tsp basil added. It smelled great while I was making it, but I think the whole wheat overpowered the basil flavor. It rolled out to a very thin 16" circle. My husband liked it, but I like mine thicker. It didn't rise very much after it baked (hence it being thin crust). Overall, a pretty good recipe.
