Spicy Tomato Bisque with Grilled Brie Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
I loved this soup! I substituted one can of diced tomatoes and one can of tomato puree to improve the texture. It tasted great. Not at all bland. A little to much spice for me but I have a weak tongue. My husband and father-in-law who like spice really enjoyed it. This recipe will definitely be made often at my house.

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Oh so good! I cut my Brie cheese in half and put a couple tablespoons of pesto in the middle of it before wrapping it up and baking it. It did need to be cooked a little longer than stated but it was a big hit! Also, make sure to serve it hot. It really loses it's wow after it cools off.

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I have always hated canned cranberry sauce so I really wanted to try fresh. I'm so glad that I did! I made the recipe just as it is except when it was done I blended the whole thing to make it smooth. It's so yummy! Mine didn't seem to tighten up as much as I would have liked but that's okay. Also, as a heads up, if you put a lid on your pot while making to prevent splatter, keep an eye on it! I didn't and it overflowed.

Soft Whole Wheat Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2008
I use this recipe for cutout cookies. Refrigerate dough for about 1 hr. before rolling out. I use pumpkin pie spice and make autumn leaf cutout cookies and let the kids decorate them. I do not put the extra cinnamon and sugar on them as they will have enough sugar with the frosting and sprinkles :)

Where's the gold brick? It doesn't work if it doesn't have a gold brick. LOL!

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
I did everything as the recipe calls for except I used 1 cup brown sugar with 1/2 cup white sugar. I baked for one hour and it was delish! Will definitely make again.

Bringing Home Baby Carrots

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
These were really good, but next time I will steam them first and then saute them in the water, honey, and apple juice for a few minutes so that they don't get over cooked. And I'll probably add a little more honey :)

Gourmet Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
These were a huge hit at a Halloween party I went to! They are not too messy or too sweet with both the caramel and the chocolate as other reviewers said. I make candy and goodies similar to this every Chritmas. A few suggestions: the apples DO need to be dipped (individually) in a LARGE pot of boiling water for about 5 seconds and then wiped dry and set aside to cool (a large pot because you don't want them sitting too close to the bottom or sides) , you don't need shortening if you buy good chocolate (if it gets too thick reheat it or add a little vegitable oil), and finally they do need to be dipped in chocolate or some other kind of coating (nuts, cookie crumbs, etc.) so that the caramel doesn't stick to the plastic wrap when you open them up to eat!

Brilliant Sauteed Broccoli

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
Really good! I took other reviewers advice and just sauteed the broccoli and added all the ingredients while it was cooking. I needed more oil so I just added it as I went. The good thing about this recipe is that it's really easy to add more of what you like at the end; you can make it sweeter, cheesier, or more spicy! Even my 13 month old loved it!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
Excellent recipe. My first time making pizza from scratch and they were perfect. Recipe was very easy. I rolled the pizza dough out on a surface dusted with cornmeal because I like my pizza that way. I will try more crust recipes for fun but I am very pleased with this one for sure.
