About me:
I am a wife and mother of 4 growing boys (oldest born 2000). These growing boys keep me busy and are eating me out of house and home, I can definetly wait until they're teenagers, by then I would need two full-time jobs just to by food. I love cake decorating and put pictures of what I've done on my little website www.oursisterskitchen.com - my boys get to pick what they want for their birthday cake every year and so far nothing is duplicated.

Newport Clam Chowder

Reviewed on Nov. 25, 2008 by Baby Pop
So, I cant give this recipe a true review because I didnt follow it exactly. I read the directions and the ingrediants and just kinda did my own thing in the kitchen. I doubled the batch (we love chowder so I wanted a bunch of leftovers). I used 1 jar of clam juice (could have used more), 3 cans of minced clams (juice included) and 1.5lbs fresh clams I found at the grocery store. I also used fat free half and half as well as skim milk and chicken broth (equal parts). Oh, i chopped up some salt pork and cut the onions in half (based on other reviews). I used dried dill and dried thyme. Overall it came out pretty good. Not as thick as we would have liked but good none the less. Served with crusty french bread and oyster crackers. Will def make another chowder attempt. :D

Avocado Shrimp Bisque

Reviewed on Nov. 5, 2008 by Baby Pop
I wont make this again. I followed the advice of other reviews are pureed the avocado and the shrimp in my food processor...I think this was a mistake. I couldnt taste the shrimp at all! It would have been better off left in chunks...same goes for the avocado. I loooove avocado but I felt like both the shrimp and avo were wasted. I also didnt have any lemon juice on hand so ommited that. Also, it came out very thin and runny so as an attempt to thicken it up I tossed in some left over mashed potatoes I had in the fridge. This helped with the consistancy but maybe it was my fault. It probably tastes much better left alone.

Sour Cream Salad Dressing

Reviewed on Nov. 5, 2008 by Baby Pop
I thought this was okay. I did a bit of tweaking because it came out too sweet for my liking. I added more mustard (spicy brown mustard), fresh parsley, 1 clove garlic, and some caraway seeds. Tossed it all in my food processor..came out great in the end. The mustard and caraway added great flavor. YUM!
